An FSF grant helped the Battle Creek, Iowa Fire Department replace unreliable 20-year old flashlights with new ones. A good thing too, since most assistance calls come in late evening or at night.

Latest Training Released!

Fire Scene Communications is the newest free training program available from the Firefighters Support Foundation’s (FSF).

Communications is perhaps the most critical component of emergency response, and its breakdown is the root cause of far too many failures and tragedies. This program defines communications and its elements, discusses best practices, and presents tactics that ensure that information is being effectively disseminated.

This program consists of a 60-minute video program and an accompanying PowerPoint program. Firefighters and EMTs can view the video material with the PowerPoint file acting as their hard copy notes, or they can use either resource independently.

The presenter is former Chief Michael Finney, the CEO of the Open Fire Academy, adjunct faculty for the National Fire Service, a faculty member at four universities, and the author of several books for the fire service.
